It’s a long holiday weekend here, and
good to have some down time. Today is also
the birthday of our daughter Natali, What a blessing she’s been ever
since we met her, about six weeks after arriving in Brazil.
Last week Sunday was a baby
dedication at church. It was fun to do this for such a great family.
Julimara and Manoel have two sons – João and Joel – so this was
extra special as they have now been blessed with a daughter, Lais. Unlike her brothers, Lais is very calm and
gentle.
This past Saturday was a churrasco –
Brazilian barbecue – with the praise team from church. Everyone
involved with this ministry – from the guys who run the sound to the
pastors – was invited. (see pictures on our blog, http://spoelhof-brazilnuts.blogspot.com/ )
It was good to just relax and have
some fun together as usually at church services or even other events,
everyone is busy with setting up or taking down their ministry with
little time to visit. This group is such a blessing in the church and
each one is so talented. It is great to see these talents used for
God’s glory. Along with eating and visiting, there was also a
devotional and prayer time, and of course, singing. The time together
went by too quickly, and before we knew it folks were heading out. And,
for us, there was another rehearsal time with the teens who were
leading the evening service on Sunday evening.
The teens did a fine job. One of the
missionaries our church helps support was present Sunday night to give
a report of the ministry she’s been involved with in Hawaii. When
the service and Christmas cantata ended, a group of about twenty of us
went out for pizza with her.
Thinking of food, I guess I’ll go out
and get a piece of cake to celebrate my little girl’s birthday!
